Getting started
How do I know where my child should start?
Start by telling us what your child can do in the water today and what you hope they can do next. We use that starting point to focus instruction on the skills that matter most for your swimmer.
Do you offer one-on-one lessons?
Yes. Focused one-on-one instruction is central to The Swim Studio Method™. It gives each swimmer individual attention and a clear next skill to work toward.
Who are The Swim Studio coaches?
All of our coaches are former competitive swimmers who are trained in The Swim Studio Method™. Each coach brings their own personality, experience, and trained eye to every lesson, allowing them to connect with each swimmer and tailor instruction to the individual.
Will my swimmer always have the same coach?
We intentionally rotate swimmers among our small, consistent coaching team. Each coach notices different details and brings a fresh perspective, helping swimmers avoid plateaus and progress more efficiently. Because our team is small, your swimmer will continue to work with the same familiar coaches and build trusted relationships with each of them.
Do you offer group lessons?
No. The Swim Studio offers private, one-on-one lessons only.
Are parents allowed in the water?
Lessons are coach-and-swimmer only, so parents do not enter the water. Parents watch from our waiting area, which is separated from the pools by a half wall, allowing them to communicate with the coach and cheer their child on throughout the lesson!
What makes The Swim Studio facility different?
Our entire facility is designed around the swimmer’s experience. Its smaller, more welcoming setting can feel less intimidating for children, helping them become comfortable, build confidence, and focus on learning to swim.
Can advanced and competitive swimmers benefit from The Swim Studio?
Yes. Our specialized pools are also used at Olympic Training Center facilities for technique training. Built-in mirrors and adjustable currents allow coaches to observe technique closely and make immediate corrections, creating an ideal environment for advanced and high-performance athletes as well as developing swimmers.
Where does The Swim Studio offer lessons?
The Swim Studio serves families in Charlotte, NC; Austin, TX; and Georgetown, TX. Contact us to ask about the options available in your area.
Programs and progress
What is The Swim Studio Method™?
The Swim Studio Method™ is our signature, experience-driven curriculum, developed in-house through decades of hands-on instruction—not adapted from any single external program. It follows a purposeful progression that begins with essential roll and float skills and continues toward confident mastery of all four strokes. Each lesson centers on a clearly defined next outcome.
What is First Float™?
First Float™ is the beginning of our progression. Swimmers learn to roll onto their back and float so they can reach the surface, breathe, regain calm, and orient themselves. From there, we teach them to move across the pool toward the edge.
What is the difference between the two programs?
The 5-Day Roll & Float Guarantee™ is a concentrated program focused on foundational roll and float skills. Weekly Private Instruction provides continuing one-on-one lessons as a swimmer builds toward their next milestones.
How will I know my child is making progress?
We keep detailed coaching notes on every swimmer after each lesson. At every visit, we speak with parents about their child’s progress and demonstrate the skills they are learning. Your private family progress page includes a simple skill checklist showing full support, some support, or independence, along with your swimmer’s next focus.
Planning your lessons
How quickly will my child learn to swim?
Every swimmer arrives with different experiences and needs. Our approach is designed for focused, measurable progress, but the right pace depends on the child and the skill being taught. We can help identify a realistic next goal when you get in touch.
How can I ask about availability or program details?
Use the Book a Lesson page or contact us with your location and your swimmer’s current experience. Our team can help you find the most appropriate next step.
